Flying into the snow-clad mountains by helicopter in the depths of winter, Dobby goes missing when his master takes him hunting for mountain goats. His jacket gets snagged in the scrub and he is trapped. But with the help of two kea, he finds the strength to survive until he is found. He is rescued seven days later with the two birds at his side. It is thought they might have helped him.

Dobby is a creative non-fiction children’s picture book, Marion’s sixth. Aesthetically illustrated by New Zealand realist artist Emma Gustafson, Dobby’s heartfelt story in the wilderness will capture children’s imaginations. The book concludes with an information page about Dobby and his breed.
